Dr. Kate Avinger completed her 1500-plus hour postdoctoral training
with Harvey Gayer, Ph.D. of Positive Outcomes Psychological Services in Athens, Georgia. Dr. Avinger provides play therapy for children and individual, group, and family therapy with children, adolescents, young adults, and families. Her areas of specialty include the treatment of emotional and behavioral disorders of childhood and adolescence, trauma and childhood sexual abuse, social skills training, behavior modification, family problems, depression, stressmanagement, and adjustment disorders. Dr. Avinger welcomes clients of various races, backgrounds, beliefs, and lifestyles. She also makes use of additional community resources to enhance treatment. Originally from Apex, North Carolina, she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors in psychology from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She obtained both her Master of Arts degree and Doctorate of Clinical Psychology (PsyD) degree from Argosy University in Atlanta (formerly the Georgia School of Professional Psychology). Dr. Avinger completed a full time APA accredited internship in clinical psychology at Morrison Child and Family Services in Portland, Oregon. This internship included therapy and assessments with children, adolescents and their families, as well as work with incarcerated youth. Dr. Richard Bank completed his 2000-plus hour postdoctoral
training with Harvey Gayer, Ph.D. of Positive Outcomes Psychological
Services in Athens, Georgia. He provides individual therapy with children,
adolescents, adults, and families. His areas of specialty include the
treatment of emotional and behavioral disorders of early childhood,
anger management, behavior modification, and adjustment disorders. Dr.
Bank also emphasizes the utilization of additional community resources
in an effort to provide further support during treatment. Dr. Bank,
originally from Novi, Michigan, obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree
in psychology from Rutgers University. He obtained both his Master of
Arts degree and Doctorate of Clinical Psychology (PsyD) degree from
the Georgia School of Professional Psychology of Argosy University in
Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Bank completed a full time APA accredited internship
in clinical psychology at Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services
in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is a member of the American Psychological
Association (APA).
Lourdes Jeannette Chahin, MD is a bilingual (Spanish) Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist , who treats most childhood psychiatric illnesses, with special interest on ADHD. Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, Dr. Chahin attended Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Urena, where she obtained her M.D. She completed her residency in Adult Psychiatry at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center, Bronx, New York, and completed a two- year fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Albert Einstein (N.Y.) College of Medicine.
Dr. Chahin is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, strictly follows their practice guidelines, and attends most of their annual meetings.
She carefully individualizes treatment for each child, and is conservative with the dosing. Her goal is to achieve significant improvement in a short period of time, with the least amount of side effects possible. She believes in educating parents and in answering any questions and concerns.
Dr. Amanda Dyer completed her postdoctoral fellowship at Positive Outcomes Psychological Services and APA-approved internship with Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District. She earned her undergraduate and doctorate degrees from the University of Georgia. Dr. Dyer is a licensed psychologist in the state of Georgia and a Nationally Certified School Psychologist. She provides individual and group therapy to children, adolescents, young adults, and families. Areas of interest include anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, ADHD, peer stressors, parent-child relationships, school – related issues, and social skills training. Dr. Dyer strives to work with caregivers, teachers, and other important people in a child’s life for a comprehensive treatment approach. She also conducts psychological assessments for children, adolescents, and adults including psychoeducational evaluations for documentation of learning disabilities and other conditions that negatively impact learning.

Dr. Alfred Hughes, originally from Charleston, South Carolina, completed
his postdoctoral fellowship at Positive Outcomes Psychological Services
in August, 2003. He received his undergraduate degree in psychology
from Georgia State University, and his doctorate degree in clinical
psychology form the California School of Professional Psychology. He
has over eight years of experience working with various aspects of family
violence, and currently works in conjunction with the Gwinnett County
Police Department providing crisis intervention services to victims
of domestic violence. Dr. Hughes conducts child, adolescent, and adult
psychological assessments. He provides play therapy for children and
psychotherapy for adolescents and adults. Dr. Hughes is presently a
member of the Georgia Association of Family Violence Intervention Providers,
Georgia Psychological Association, Gwinnett County Family Violence Task
Force, and American Psychological Association.

Dr. Erica Kasler provides individual and family-based play therapy with children as well as individual psychotherapy with adolescents and adults. Areas of specialty include the treatment of behavioral and attachment disorders in early childhood; the treatment of pervasive developmental disorders, such as Autism and Asperger's Disorder; behavior modification; social skills training; grief therapy; stress management; and treatment of emotional difficulties associated with fibromyalgia. Dr. Kasler plans to offer a social skills group for children with high-functioning Autism and Asperger's Disorder in the near future. Originally from Gainesville, Florida, Dr. Kasler obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Florida State University. She obtained both her Master of Arts degree and Doctorate of Clinical Psychology (PsyD) degree from Argosy University (formerly the Georgia School of Professional Psychology) in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Kasler completed a full time APA accredited internship in clinical psychology at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. She completed her 2000-plus hour postdoctoral training with Harvey Gayer, Ph.D. of Positive Outcomes Psychological Services in Athens, Georgia. She is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA).
Dr. Eli Solomon completed his 2000 plus hour postdoctoral
fellowship with Dr. Harvey Gayer at Positive Outcomes Psychological
Services, P.C. in Athens, and was granted his Georgia license in clinical
psychology in 2004. He has a full-time appointment at Positive Outcomes,
and will be conducting psychotherapy with children, adolescents, and
adults. In addition, Dr. Solomon will conduct psychological and neuropsychological
evaluations. Dr. Solomon, originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, obtained
his B.S. in psychology from James Madison University. He obtained both
his M.A. and Psy.D. degrees in clinical psychology from the California
School of Professional Psychology. He completed a full time APA accredited
internship in clinical psychology at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego.
He is member of the Georgia Psychological Association (GPA) and the
American Psychological Association (APA).
Dr. Mary Elizabeth Trent completed her 2000 plus-hour
postdoctoral fellowship training at the Georgia State University Counseling
Center in Atlanta and was granted her Georgia license in clinical psychology.
She provides individual psychotherapy with children, adolescents,
and adults as well as family and couple therapy.
In addition, Dr. Trent facilitates a state certified family violence
intervention program. Her clinical interests include intimate partner
violence, disordered eating and body image concerns, trauma and abuse
and women’s issues.
Dr. Trent, originally from Memphis, TN, received her undergraduate degree
in psychology from Washington State University, her masters of science
from Western Washington University, and her doctorate in clinical psychology
from the California School of Professional Psychology. She is a Certified Provider of Family Violence
Intervention Programs in the state of Georgia, a member of the Georgia
Psychological Association and American Psychological Association (APA).
