Dr. Lourdes J. Chahin is a bilingual (Spanish) Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who treats most psychiatric illnesses in children, teenagers and young adults. She also treats the parents and grandparents of her pediatric patients if necessary, in an effort to keep the family healthy together.

It is her philosophy to consider patients and their family as unique, taking the time to listen carefully to all of their concerns, building trust gradually and offering medications only when absolutely necessary . Dr. Chahin is accessible and responsive to her patient's questions and concerns, as she will be the one providing direct treatment. Patients, if old enough, and parents are involved in the medication selection process, as all available options are discussed openly and the benefits versus the risks are always considered.

She attended Pre-Med and Medical School at Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Urena, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude as a Medical Doctor. Her Adult Psychiatric training took place at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center, Bronx, NY, from 1991 to 1994. Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY, was Dr. Chahin's fellowship program, where she trained to become a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, from 1994 to 1996.

A member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry since 1994, and the GA Chapter of the Academy since 2006, Dr. Chahin maintains her accreditation by attending annual Academy meetings and keeping up to date with the fast changing field of Psychopharmacology.
